Hong Kong's total exports to the Mainland for outward processing in the year's third quarter fell 10% on the same period last year to $116.2 billion, the Census & Statistics Department says.
The value of domestic exports and re-exports to the Mainland for outward processing also dropped 48% and 9%, to $1.9 billion and $114.3 billion.
The value of imports from the Mainland related to outward processing dipped 18% to $170.9 billion, while $165.3 billion of Hong Kong's re-exports of Mainland origin to other places produced through outward processing on the Mainland were down 20%.
Of Hong Kong's total exports to the Mainland, 35% were for outward processing, 25% for domestic exports and 35% for re-exports. The figures were 35% for total exports, 38% for domestic exports and 35% for re-exports for the same period last year.
In this year's third quarter 50% of imports from the Mainland were related to outward processing and 66% of Hong Kong's re-exports of Mainland origin to other places were produced through outward processing on the Mainland. The figures were 54% for imports and 67% for re-exports for the same period last year.
