The World Intellectual Property Organisation symposium on the management of intellectual capital, assets and property opened in Hong Kong today.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Permanent Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development (Commerce, Industry & Tourism) Yvonne Choi said Hong Kong sees merits for regional enterprises which adopt the intellectual capital management concept and systematically take stock of their intellectual capital.
"With a better idea of their asset portfolio, enterprises are better positioned to devise their strategy for creating value," she said.
More than 200 participants are attending the two-day symposium, including government officials, academics, representatives from intellectual property-related organisations, and small and medium enterprises, as well as senior representatives from the intellectual property offices of 19 countries.
