*

Hong Kong will participate in the 2009 Frankfurt Book Fair October 14 to 18 to showcase the city's publishing and printing industries, and local arts and culture.

With sponsorship and support from CreateHK, the Commerce & Economic Development Bureau and the Home Affairs Bureau, a Hong Kong pavilion will be erected at the fair.

The 128-square-metre pavilion will feature three themed zones - the Publishing & Printing Centre, Cosmopolitan Culture zone and Creative Culture zone.

Under Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Gregory So and Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs Carrie Yau will officiate at the Hong Kong Reception on October 15.

Mr So will attend the Global Chinese Publishing Forum hosted by the Mainland. Mrs Yau will visit the Hong Kong Pavilion and attend a forum on Hong Kong urban culture and literature.

She will also visit Vienna, a major European cultural capital, on October 16. She will visit the MuseumsQuartier, one of the world's largest and most renowned cultural complexes.

Mr So will leave Frankfurt for Hong Kong on October 16 while Mrs Yau will return to Hong Kong on October 18.
