Hong Kong's total exports to the Mainland for outward processing reached $105.5 billion in the second quarter, down 19% on the same period last year, the Census & Statistics Department says.
The value of domestic exports to the Mainland for outward processing dropped 48%, to $2 billion, while the value of re-exports to the Mainland for outward processing fell 19%, to $103.6 billion.
The value of imports from the Mainland related to outward processing dropped 31%, to $141.4 billion, while $147.9 billion of Hong Kong's re-exports originally from the Mainland were produced through outward processing on the Mainland, down 20%.
In the second quarter, 32% of Hong Kong's total exports to the Mainland were for outward processing. The proportion was 28% for domestic exports and 32% for re-exports.
About 47% of Hong Kong's imports from the Mainland were related to outward processing, while 67% of Hong Kong's re-exports originally from the Mainland were produced through outward processing on the Mainland.
