Cruise project prequalification applications open
*

The Government is inviting prequalification applications for the design and build of the cruise terminal building at Kai Tak.

Application details, including applicants' eligibility criteria, have been gazetted. Qualified applicants can obtain the application documents from the Architectural Services Department and submit their applications on or before March 31.

The department will then prequalify four suitable candidates to participate in the design and build contract tender exercise.

The Tourism Commission said it is working simultaneously to prepare for the invitation of tenders for the site formation works contract and the cruise terminal building works contract. The move will shorten the construction lead time.

The Government will seek funding approval from the Legislative Council later this year for carrying out the site formation works. It is expected that works can begin before the end of the year, and the first berth can begin operation by mid-2013.
