Q3 outward processing exports up 19%

About $128.6-billion worth of Hong Kong's total exports to the Mainland in the third quarter were for outward processing, up 19% on the same period last year, the Census & Statistics Department says.

 

The value of domestic exports to the Mainland for outward processing fell 25% to $3.7 billion while the value of re-exports to the Mainland for outward processing rose 21% to $124.9 billion.

 

The value of imports from the Mainland related to outward processing rose 8% to $208 billion while $207.2 billion of the city's re-exports of Mainland origin to other places were produced through outward processing on the Mainland, down 8%.

 

In the first nine months of the year $361 billion of Hong Kong's total exports to the Mainland were for outward processing, up 9% on the same period last year. The value of domestic exports to the Mainland for outward processing dropped 23% to $10.8 billion while re-exports to the Mainland for outward processing grew 10% to $350.2 billion.

 

The value of imports from the Mainland related to outward processing rose 3% to $596.3 billion while $595.3 billion of Hong Kong's re-exports of Mainland origin to other places were produced through outward processing on the Mainland, down 2%.
