Rita Lau calls for ATV clarification
*

Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Rita Lau has asked Asia Television to clarify its management personnel changes as soon as possible.

Mrs Lau said today ATV's recent announcement on its management reshuffle has caused confusion and public concern. Noting the Government has expressed grave concern over the announcement and its handling, Mrs Lau said the station's executive chairman Linus Cheung has indicated a clarification will be issued in the coming days.

"He has given me the assurance he had the opportunity of communicating with various levels of ATV staff to ensure the service of ATV will be delivered in full compliance of the licence requirements and in accordance with the law," she said.

Mrs Lau also noted the need for ATV to comply with the Broadcasting Ordinance provisions requiring the notification of personnel changes within seven days, adding the station should do it swiftly in view of the confusion.
