Financial Secretary John Tsang and Monetary Authority Chief Executive Joseph Yam will attend the G20 Summit on Financial Markets & the World Economy to be held in Washington DC on November 15. They will attend the summit as Chinese delegation members.
The G20 Summit will discuss, among other things, the causes of the global financial crisis and review the progress achieved by various economies in dealing with the crisis. It will also discuss the way forward with reforms in the international financial system.
Mr Tsang and Mr Yam will leave for the US on November 13 and return on November 18. During Mr Tsang's absence, Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Prof KC Chan will be the Acting Financial Secretary.
