Secretary for Development Carrie Lam
Asia's world city: Secretary for Development Carrie Lam addresses the lecture "Asian Arts & Culture - A New Vision: Chinese Spirit, Global Design", part of the "New York Celebrates Hong Kong 2008" Festival.

Hong Kong can become a unique city for creativity, Secretary for Development Carrie Lam said in New York today.

Addressing the lecture "Asian Arts & Culture - A New Vision: Chinese Spirit, Global Design", part of the "New York Celebrates Hong Kong 2008" Festival, Mrs Lam said Hong Kong holds a special place on the global stage.

"Its East-meets-West history, past and present economic accomplishments, and current designation as China's Special Administrative Region renders Hong Kong a unique city for creativity."

The lecture featured internationally acclaimed Hong Kong designer Eric Chan and architect/designer Calvin Tsao discussing the role of Asian arts and culture in contemporary society, the relationship between the individual and the community, heritage and globalisation, as well as the synergies between economic growth and cultural enterprises.
