Hong Kong is at the forefront among telecommunications markets worldwide, according to an Office of the Telecommunications Authority study.
The report compares Hong Kong's performance in local-fixed voice, mobile, broadband and data services with those of the member economies of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation & Development and Singapore.
The study found the take-up of fixed-voice, mobile, broadband and data services in Hong Kong is in the top tier, and prices for telecoms services are significantly lower than those in most advanced economies.
The office said the result shows quality telecoms services are extensively available to the public at affordable prices.
With the rapid rollout of fibre networks, the penetration rate of the fibre network of Hong Kong ranks only second to South Korea. The continued development in telecoms infrastructure will equip Hong Kong with the capability to meet the demand for high quality telecoms services in the future.
