The Commerce & Economic Development Bureau's consultation on competition law has found the public generally supports the proposals.
The bureau said today response to the consultation was encouraging with 176 submissions received. Respondents supported most of the proposals. Many also forwarded additional proposals ranging from detailed and technical legal points to recommendations on how the Government might enhance the clarity of the law.
The bureau said feedback received showed significant support in the community for the establishment of an independent competition commission to enforce a cross-sector competition law.
