The Government will carefully consider the 160 submissions received during the competition-law consultation period in drafting the law, Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Rita Lau says.
Speaking on a radio programme today, Mrs Lau hoped the views received can be made public by the end of September.
Noting Under Secretary Gregory So's legal background, Mrs Lau said he has been asked to analyse the views and draft the law. He is also responsible for reviewing the Control of Obscene & Indecent Articles Ordinance and promoting the Digital 21 strategy.
A wide consultation will be conducted on the obscene law for a thorough community discussion, to reach a social consensus, she added.
On tourism, Mrs Lau regarded the re-tendering of the cruise-terminal project as a priority, as there was an optimistic outlook for the cruise industry. She hoped a report can be made as soon as the new Legislative Council session resumes.
While it aims to be a market-led project, Mrs Lau said the Government is studying whether there is a need to build part or all of the infrastructural facilities itself. She hoped the first berth can be put into service in 2013.
