Hongkong Post will launch its iMailR service on July 14, providing customers with a fast, reliable and simplified way to make bulk postings and facilitate customs pre-declaration.

The service is in response to market demand for efficient communications arising from booming online trade. It will replace the Bulk Registered Air Mail service launched to support e-commerce development in August 2005.

Address labels have previously been printed on envelopes with preprinted Hongkong Post permit insignia, with customs clearance forms and air-mail labels affixed to each item.

Under the new service such procedures are automated to shorten the time for mail preparation. All the required information can be printed on an all-in-one label for affixing to individual items, streamlining online sellers' preparation of bulk postings which require a signature on delivery receipt.

A supplementary insurance service and an online credit-card payment facility will also be introduced, along with a website providing one-stop solutions to online sellers.
