Bids sought for 7 former gov't flats
*
Government Property Agency

The Government Property Agency is inviting bids for the purchase of seven flats together with seven car-parking spaces which are former government quarters located at Happy Valley and Jardine's Lookout. The tender will close at noon on July 4.

Four of the flats are located at Beverly Hill Blocks A and D, 6 Broadwood Road, Happy Valley. The other three are at Elm Tree Towers Block A, 8 Chun Fai Road, Jardine's Lookout.

Flats at Beverly Hill have a saleable area of about 136.15 to 136.62 square metres each, while those at Elm Tree Towers are about 162.25 square metres. Each of these flats together with one designated car-parking space will be sold with vacant possession.

Bidders may submit tenders to buy one, more or all of the flats. For details click here.

The flats will open for inspection every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, from 10 am to 6pm, from June 14 to July 2. Interested parties must register at the reception counter at Flat D2, 2/F, Block D, Beverly Hill and Apartment No 2, 12/F, Block A, Elm Tree Towers. Tender documents will be available here.

Demand for non-departmental quarters has dropped as civil servants joining the Government on or after October 1 are not eligible for non-departmental quarters with the introduction of new civil-servant housing benefit schemes.

It has been the Government's intention to dispose of surplus quarters as circumstances permit. Since the 1990s, more than 220 surplus quarters have been sold in the market.
