The Monetary Authority has granted a restricted banking licence to Euroclear Bank effective April 15. It brings the total number of restricted licensed banks in Hong Kong to 30.

According to the July 2007 issue of The Banker, it is the fifth largest bank in its native Belgium and the 305th-largest bank in the world in terms of tier-one capital.
