Rice production and supply in Thailand is normal, the Trade & Industry Department says, adding the Thai Government has no plan to impose rise export quotas.
The department has contacted the Thai Consulate-General regarding the supply of Thai rice to Hong Kong.
To ensure a stable rice supply and to keep a reserve stock sufficient for the local population for 15 days in emergencies, the Government runs the rice control scheme under the Reserved Commodities Ordinance.
The reserve stock reached 14,400 tonnes in this year's first quarter. Information provided by 88 of the 100 registered stockholders showed as at March 31 the closing stock stood at 10,400 tonnes. For details click here.
