Pacific economic body chief named

Trade & Industry Department

Chinese University Department of Economics Chairman Sung Yun-wing has been appointed chairman of the new-term Hong Kong Committee for Pacific Economic Co-operation.

 

The committee will also have another four academics, six business people and two Government members. Appointments will take effect from tomorrow for two years.

 

The four academics are Dr Stephen Ching, Prof Kaye Chon, Prof Lam Kin and Prof Judy Tsui, while Teresa Au, Lily Chow, Michael Lee, Edward Leung, Victor Mok and Joseph Wong come from the business sector. Click here for their details.

 

Prof Sung has been involved in the committee's work and the Pacific Economic Co-operation Council's Trade Policy Forum Hong Kong Committee.

 

The Trade & Industry Department thanked outgoing chairman Prof Edward Chen, noting the Youth Learning Project he spearheaded has won wide acclaim.

 

The committee advises the Government on matters relating to Hong Kong's participation in the Pacific Economic Co-operation Council.
