About $451.5 billion worth of Hong Kong's total exports to the Mainland last year were for outward processing, up 10% on a year earlier, the Census & Statistics Department says.
The value of domestic exports to the Mainland for outward processing fell 8% to $19.2 billion while that of re-exports to the Mainland for outward processing rose 11% to $432.4 billion.
The value of imports from the Mainland related to outward processing grew 1% to $780 billion. About $841 billion of Hong Kong's re-exports of Mainland origin to other places were produced through outward processing in the Mainland, up 3% on a year earlier.
In the fourth quarter, about $119.2 billion of Hong Kong's total exports to the Mainland were for outward processing, up 13% over the same period in 2006.
The value of domestic exports to the Mainland for outward processing grew 24% to $5.2 billion, while the value of re-exports to the Mainland for outward processing rose 13% to $114 billion.
The value of imports from the Mainland related to outward processing fell 2% to $200.9 billion. About $230.6 billion of Hong Kong's re-exports of Mainland origin to other places were produced through outward processing in the Mainland, up 5% over the same period in 2006.
