The Monetary Authority and the Financial Reporting Council have signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance communication and co-operation.

The council is a statutory body launched in July that investigates entities' auditing and reporting irregularities. If the listed entity under enquiry is an authorised institution under the Banking Ordinance, the council must notify the Monetary Authority.
