Creative industry committee to be formed
*

To accelerate creative industry development the Financial Secretary will form a steering committee to make strategic plans and measures, Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Frederick Ma says.

In Shanghai today Mr Ma said competition from Hong Kong's neighbouring regions has become more and more intense, so the Government will form the committee to work with industries to promote Hong Kong as a creative capital. Hong Kong has more than 30,000 creative-industry related establishments and 160,000 practitioners in the field.

Leading a delegation of 30 industry representatives, Mr Ma attended the Shanghai International Creative Industry Week opening ceremony. He also visited the Creative HKG pavilion which showcased the developments and achievements of Hong Kong's creative industries.

Through taking part in exhibitions and seminars, Mr Ma said creative industries can gain experience from areas like Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta and open new business opportunities.
