The Broadcasting Authority has approved the revision of the Generic Code of Practice on Television Technical Standards.
The amended code will take effect in November and specifies the technical standards for digital terrestrial television programme services to be launched by the two domestic free television programme service licensees in future.
It also sets out the technical requirements for video signals, audio signals, electronic programme guide, and subtitles for the digital service.
Meanwhile, the authority has approved the application of TVB Pay Vision for proposed changes in its shareholding structure, which involved the acquisition of a 20% interest in TVBPV by a new investor. After the shareholding changes Television Broadcasts Limited's indirect interest in TVBPV will be reduced from 49% to 29%.
The authority has also approved applications by the Kowloon Panda Hotel and Gala Hotels for the renewal of their licences to provide television programme services in hotel rooms.
