Tourist hub: Commissioner for Tourism Au King-chi says the Government strives to maintain Hong Kong's image as the world's most popular tourist spot.
*

Twelve tourist complaints were lodged during the National Day Golden Week holiday, two-thirds lower than Labour Day Golden Week.

Commissioner for Tourism Au King-chi met with representatives from Tourism Commission, Tourism Board, Travel Industry Council and Consumer Council today to review measures taken during the holiday.

She said efforts made by local and Mainland authorities and the tourism sector saw the number of tourist complaints during the holiday fall 66% on the Labour Day holiday to 12.

Miss Au said the Government strives to maintain Hong Kong's image as the world's most popular tourist spot and monitors the quality of tourism services, adding suggestions on service upgrades are welcome.

She called on local travel agencies not to conduct businesses with Mainland firms which have not been authorised to arrange Hong Kong tours. Mainland authorities will take stringent action against malpractices to safeguard consumers.
