The Broadcasting Authority has issued an administrative sanction to TVB Pay Vision for the belated submission of annual audited accounts.
Under licence conditions, TVBPV is required to submit to the authority a certified copy of its latest annual audited accounts by the end of April each year. For the 2006 accounting year TVBPV submitted the accounts 39 days late.
In imposing the sanction, the authority took into account that TVBPV had admitted the breaches, its submission that the delay was caused by unforeseen factors and that the breaches would not have any adverse impact on the overall broadcasting market.
The authority urged TVBPV to impose a compliance system to prevent similar breaches in future and directed it to submit a proposal within one month.
At its meeting today, the authority also approved the application by Times International Media Group for a non-domestic television licence to 2019. There are now 15 non-domestic television licensees in Hong Kong.
In September it also approved applications from Langham Hotels International and Ricobem for renewal of their licences to provide television services in hotel rooms. There are now 24 other licensable television programme service licensees in Hong Kong.
