Views sought on cruise terminal service pact
*
Development of a new cruise terminal at Kai Tak

Berth blueprint: The Tourism Commission will invite tenders for developing the new Kai Tak cruise terminal in the fourth quarter.

The proposed service pact framework governing the new Kai Tak cruise terminal's operation and management has been issued for public comment, the Tourism Commission says.

The pact, to be co-terminous with the land lease, will require the successful bidder to:

* seek Government approval of changes in the project team members in managing the new terminal during initial operation;

* implement the service pledges on operation and management aspects proposed by the successful bidder;

* make available to the public throughout the term of the lease certain information to enhance the transparency of the operation and management of the new cruise terminal; and,

* organise a market consultation forum to engage the cruise market and tourism industry as an ongoing effort, and assist the Tourism Board and the tourism industry in promoting Hong Kong as a regional cruise hub.

Comments should reach the commission by October 10 by faxing 2801 4458; mailing 2/F, East Wing, Central Government Offices, Lower Albert Road, Central or emailing cruise@cedb.gov.hk. For enquiries call 2810 2555 or 2810 2770.

The commission will take into account public and market views in preparing the tender.
