The Monetary Authority has granted a banking licence to Taiwan Co-operative Bank, bringing the total number of licensed banks in Hong Kong to 141.

The bank is incorporated in Taiwan. According to the July 2007 issue of The Banker, it is the 203rd largest bank in the world in terms of tier-one capital.
