Appointments
*
James Tien to head Tourism Board
*

James Tien will chair the Hong Kong Tourism Board for three years from April 1, succeeding Selina Chow who retires after six years of service.

Announcing the appointment today, Secretary for Economic Development & Labour Stephen Ip said Mr Tien is the most suitable person for the job with his wide experience in both the commercial and public sectors.

"The tourism industry is one of Hong Kong's economic pillars. With an exemplary record of public and community service as well as extensive commercial experience, Mr Tien has the vision, leadership and capability to bring the development of tourism in Hong Kong to new heights and enhance the position of Hong Kong as a premier tourist destination," Mr Ip said.

He thanked Mrs Chow for her valuable contribution in steering the board since its reconstitution from the former Hong Kong Tourist Association in 2001.

Meanwhile, three new members have been appointed to the board - Patrick Fung, Peter Lam and Dane Cheng. They will replace Philip Chen, Paul Chiu and Robert Chow, who have served for six years.
