The Broadcasting Authority has asked PCCW Media, holder of a domestic pay television programme service licence, and other parties, to provide information on the voting controllers of the company.
The authority said today that the request has been made in pursuant to section 10(1) of Schedule 1 of the Broadcasting Ordinance.
Following the vote by the minority shareholders of Pacific Century Regional Developments in November against the proposed sale of 23% of shares in PCCW by PCRD to Fiorlatte Limited and Francis Leung, the authority has been pursuing enquiries with PCCW Media in relation to Richard Li's involvement in PCCW Media, through the holding company PCCW and a local newspaper.
