The Monetary Authority has granted a banking licence to the Land Bank of Taiwan, boosting the number of licensed banks in Hong Kong to 138.

The bank is the third largest in Taiwan, in terms of total assets. It is wholly owned by the Taiwan government and has maintained a representative office in Hong Kong since 1999.
