Cyberport forum boosts partnerships

*

More than 300 investors and entrepreneurs have shared their visions and explored challenges and changes in the digital entertainment and digital content industries at the Cyberport Venture Capital Forum 2006.

The forum, held today, aims to connect investors and entrepreneurs and facilitate win-win partnerships.

Permanent Secretary for Commerce, Industry & Technology (Communications & Technology) Francis Ho said the Government has been supportive of this event, adding this is the third time Cyberport has organised the forum.

"In view of the booming development of creative industries in the Asia-Pacific region, including China and Hong Kong in recent years, the right investments will be immensely rewarding. While opportunities are plentiful, it is important to know how to understand and face challenges. In this context, the shared learning experience from Cyberport Venture Capital Forum 2006 will be of immeasurable value," Mr Ho said.

In conjunction with International Telecommunications Union Telecom World 2006, a special cocktail reception was held at Cyberport this afternoon to offer forum participants, local industry players and the ITU Telecom World VIP delegation a valuable networking opportunity.

The Cyberport also announced that it has become the first open Wi-Fi broadband network in Hong Kong. The public can enjoy free Wi-Fi Internet services anytime, anywhere within the Cyberport campus.
