Hong Kong and Guizhou should focus their co-operation on finance, tourism, infrastructure and Chinese medicine research and development, Chief Executive Donald Tsang says.
Speaking at the Hong Kong-Guizhou Business Co-operation Symposium today, Mr Tsang said the province's rich resources and future development will offer Hong Kong's manufacturing, tourism, construction and professional services sectors business opportunities.
Noting Guizhou's economic development requires investment support, the Chief Executive said enterprises there can make use of Hong Kong's financial market as the platform to raise funds. As at October, 355 Mainland enterprises had been listed in the city's stock market, with a total of $1.39 trillion raised.
Mr Tsang said today's symposium will help Hong Kong business people know about Guizhou's situation and business environment. Enterprises there can learn more about the advantages of Hong Kong's financial and professional services, and make use of the city's broad global network to enter the international arena.
He called on Hong Kong and Guizhou businesses to capitalise on the opportunities brought under the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement and Pan-Pearl River Delta Co-operation schemes to strengthen trade ties.
