Race for the dough: Acrobats picked off buns and packed them into sacks while climbing towards the tower's top. |
Hong Kong has unveiled a full-size bun tower in London for the inauguration of City of London Lord Mayor Alderman John Stuttard.
It was the second time the Government participated in the 800-year-old mayoral event.
Arranged by the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office in London, the 52-foot-high bun tower was modelled closely on the Cheung Chau original. It was stacked with 5,600 replica buns, and set up between the Bank of England and the Mansion House.
The BBC broadcasted the show live to about 2 million people in the UK and globally.
During the show, acrobats picked off buns and packed them into over-the-shoulder sacks while climbing the tower.
