Meeting Mickey: Secretary for Economic Development & Labour Stephen Ip visits Hong Kong Disneyland.

Hong Kong's tourist industry is drawing more overseas tourists, showing it is not solely dependent on Mainland visitors, Secretary for Economic Development & Labour Stephen Ip says.

Visiting Hong Kong Disneyland today, Mr Ip said Australian, New Zealand, European and Middle-Eastern visitors to the city have been growing in recent months, showing its attractiveness as an international tourist centre.

However, he said Mainland individual visitors are still a very important tourist source and expected more of them to visit later this year.

On Disneyland, Mr Ip said the park's management has worked hard to improve publicity, and communication with local and Mainland travel agencies. He expects it to have a higher visitor turnout next year.

Mr Ip said the Government has no need to further invest in Disneyland as it is financially sound.
