FIB gets banking licence

The Monetary Authority has granted a banking licence to Fimat International Banque SA, effective September 28. The move brings the number of licensed banks in Hong Kong to 137.

 

FIB, incorporated in France, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Societe Generale. According to the July 2006 issue of The Banker, Societe Generale was the world's 26th largest bank in terms of tier-one capital.
