Permanent Secretary for Housing, Planning & Lands Thomas Chan says an agreement has been reached with real estate developers on the sale of incomplete flats.
Speaking after the meeting with the Real Estate Developers Association, the Consumer Council and the Estate Agents Authority today, Mr Chan said all parties reached a consensus on five aspects. They are:
* for the first batch of flats for sale, at least 20 flats or 20% of that batch of flats need to be put up for sale, whichever is the higher;
* the price list has to be published and made available to prospective home buyers immediately when additional units are offered;
* developers undertake to sign the provisional sale and purchase agreement as soon as possible;
* developers will consider how to better delineate the responsibilities and authority of developers and real estate agents; and,
* all concerned parties will continue to work together to further improve the related guidelines.
Mr Chan said the Government will review the effectiveness of the new measures to see if it is necessary to introduce more measures.
