Incomplete flat issue to be discussed

*

The Housing, Planning & Lands Bureau will meet the Real Estate Developers Association, the Consumer Council and the Estate Agents Authority August 25 to discuss the sale of incomplete flats.

The bureau said it is concerned about recent reports that some developers did not comply with the spirit of the association's guidelines. It will not rule out the possibility of stringent measures to regulate sale of uncompleted units, including the option of legislation, if improvements to current measures cannot achieve the desired effect.

The meeting agenda includes:

* the availability of a price list for a meaningful number of units available for sale to prospective home buyers at least 24 hours before the start of private sale;

* the provision of an updated price list when additional units are offered; and,

* the issue of payment of deposit or registration fee.
