The apparel industry's domestic export value surged to $6.2 billion in this year's second quarter, up 61.7% on the same period last year, the Census & Statistics Department says.
The textiles industry also recorded 51.1% growth to $8.7 billion, while the consumer electrical and electronic products industry saw a 45.3% rise to $5.3 billion. However, the machinery, equipment, apparatus, parts and components industry fell 22.4% to $4.3 billion.
The domestic export value of these four industries accounted for 74% of Hong Kong's total domestic exports.
As for other manufacturing industries, the domestic export value classified to the basic metals and fabricated metal products industry grew 10.2% to $1.5 billion.
