Serious matter: Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Frederick Ma says the Ocean Grand Holdings' case will be handled seriously.

Hong Kong has a very good regulatory regime and will not tolerate acts that affect the interests of investors and shareholders, Secretary for Financial Services & the Treasury Frederick Ma says.

He told reporters today both the Government and regulatory bodies are very concerned about protecting investors' interests.

On Ocean Grand Holdings' recent disclosures of possible fund misappropriations, Mr Ma said the Securities & Futures Commission will handle the case seriously, adding one incident as such will not affect investor confidence in Hong Kong's finance market. He also called on the trade to exercise self-discipline and monitor staff conduct.
