Guangxi trip to enhance business ties: CE

*
CE arrives in Guangxi
Trade talk: Deputy Director of the Development & Reform Commission of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Qiu Zuqiang briefs the Hong Kong delegation in Nanning.
*

Chief Executive Donald Tsang says his trip to Guangxi will help provide an platform for Hong Kong businessmen to feel and understand the investment environment and developments in the province.

Mr Tsang and a delegation of Government officials and about 80 business leaders arrived in Nanning today for a two-day study tour.

They visited local enterprises and infrastructural facilities and met with Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region officials.

He said trade ties between Hong Kong and Guangxi can be multi-level and diversified. Guangxi businessmen can utilise Hong Kong's edge in financial, logistics and professional services, and enterprises from both sides can work together to explore new opportunities.

Guangxi's close links with the Association of South East Asian Nations offers an opportunity for tripartite trade ties for Hong Kong businessmen.

He added that delegation members can get a more in-depth understanding of Guangxi's edge through the visit, while the direct interface between enterprises of the two places can facilitate their interaction to look for trade opportunities.

The delegation will tomorrow attend the Guangxi-Hong Kong Economic & Trade Co-operation Symposium, and visit Fangchenggang City. They will also attend a dinner hosted by the Nanning Municipal Government.

Mr Tsang will leave for Kunming, Yunnan, on June 4 to attend the 3rd Pan-Pearl River Delta Regional Co-operation & Development Forum.
