The Monetary Authority has granted a restricted banking licence to Credit Agricole (Suisse) SA under the Banking Ordinance. The licence took effect May 23.

A wholly owned subsidiary of the Credit Agricole Group, the Swiss-based bank mainly engages in private and corporate banking, and capital markets activities.

It raises the number of restricted-licence banks in Hong Kong to 32.
