The Housing Authority has awarded two building contracts for completion of the remaining works for the redevelopment of Shek Pai Wan Estate Phase 2 and Fanling Area 36 Phase 2 following the forfeiture of the previous contracts earlier this year.

The two contracts will be awarded to different tenderers - Hanison Construction Co. Ltd for the Shek Pai Wan Estate project and China State Construction Engineering (HK) Ltd for the Fanling project. They scored the highest in each of the tender exercises.

Remaining works at the Shek Pai Wan site comprise four 41-storey domestic blocks providing 2,398 flats together with a pedestrian link including a lift tower and footbridge. The works should be completed in nine and a half to 10 months.

Remaining works at the Fanling site comprise two 41-storey domestic blocks providing 1,598 flats, associated drainage and external works to be completed in 20 months and one refuse collection point and open carpark providing 112 parking spaces and an estate road. The work should be completed in 10 months.

Both contractors must employ at least 80% of the sub-contractors employed in the previous building contracts.

Revised budget

The authority also approved the $706.084 million revised project budget for the Shek Pai Wan project representing an increase of 8.95% over the previous approved budget and the $425.508 million revised project budget for the Fanling project representing an increase of 12.96% over the previous approved budget.

Meanwhile, Dickson Construction Ltd will be deleted from the authority's list of building contractors as it had failed to comply with the contractual requirements on the progress of works at three sites.

Any application from the contractor for inclusion on the list will not be considered in the coming five years.
