Q4 outward processing exports up 1%

About $106.4 billion of Hong Kong's total exports to the Mainland in the fourth quarter of 2005 were for outward processing, up 1% over a year earlier, the Census & Statistics Department says.

 

The value of domestic exports to the Mainland for outward processing rose 4% to $7.1 billion while the value of re-exports to the Mainland for outward processing fell 2% to $99.2 billion.

 

The value of imports from the Mainland related to outward processing dropped 2% to $185.9 billion, while $197.8 billion of Hong Kong's re-exports of Mainland origin to other places were produced through outward processing in the Mainland, up 6%.

 

For the whole of 2005, $388.5 billion of Hong Kong's total exports to the Mainland were for outward processing, up less than 1% over 2004. The value of domestic exports to the Mainland for outward processing grew 1% to $25.1 billion whereas that of re-exports to the Mainland for outward processing rose less than 1% to $363.4 billion.

 

The value of imports from the Mainland related to outward processing went up 5% to $692 billion, while $756.6 billion of Hong Kong's re-exports of Mainland origin to other places were produced through outward processing in the Mainland, up 10%.
