Electric vehicle tax exemption extended
*

The Legislative Council has passed a resolution to extend the First Registration Tax exemption for electric vehicles for another three years, as proposed in the 2006-07 Budget.

The Environment, Transport & Works Bureau said the concession will promote the use of environmentally friendly electric vehicles. The resolution passed today under the Motor Vehicles (First Registration Tax) Ordinance will extend the exemption to March 31, 2009.

The Government first granted the tax exemption for electric vehicles in 1994-95 and has extended it three times - in 1997-98, 2000-01 and 2003-04.
