Modified control arrangements for Hong Kong's textile exports to the European Union will take effect from March 15, the Commerce, Industry & Technology Bureau says.
Exports, including re-exports, will require either a consignment-specific export licence or a textiles notification under the Textiles Trader Registration Scheme to cover each consignment.
Cut-and-sewn garments will also be subject to the Production Notification requirement.
The bureau said the modified arrangements will strengthen control of textile exports to the EU against illegal transhipment and preserve Hong Kong's trade interests.
It said the arrangements reflect those for textile exports to the US and are essential for maintaining the effectiveness and credibility of Hong Kong's control system.
The law was gazetted today and details can be found on the Trade & Industry Department's website.
