Award-winning show: Guinness World Records' Marco Frigatti, Financial Secretary Henry Tang and Commissioner for Tourism Eva Cheng. |
Guinness World Records has named A Symphony of Lights the world's largest permanent light and sound show.
It is a 13-minute nightly synchronised light and sound show on 20 buildings on Victoria Harbour.
Financial Secretary Henry Tang presided over the Guinness certificate presentation ceremony today at Golden Bauhinia Square. Guinness Head of Records Marco Frigatti presented the certificate to Commissioner for Tourism Eva Cheng.
Mr Tang said the show demonstrates the remarkable synergy of Hong Kong's public-private partnership.
"Participation in the show is entirely voluntary. This unprecedented joint venture between public and private organisations is not bound by contract, but by our Hong Kong spirit, which has marvelled many of our tourism counterparts overseas," he said, adding the award will attract more visitors to Hong Kong to watch the show and discover the city.
Ms Cheng said the second phase of the show will launch next month, extending participation to 13 more buildings, including the Cultural Centre, Museum of Art and the Coliseum.
