Star power: Director of Intellectual Property Stephen Selby joins California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Hong Kong movie star Jackie Chan to promote the protection of intellectual property rights. |
Hong Kong movie star Jackie Chan and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger are appearing in a new Government promotion on the protection of intellectual property rights.
It was launched today at a luncheon organised by the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and the Amercian Chamber of Commerce. Speaking at the luncheon, Director of Intellectual Property Stephen Selby said the protection of intellectual property rights is an issue of global concern.
Meanwhile, Mr Schwarzenegger said stamping out piracy is good for trade, good for global economies and good for consumers.
"The illegal duplication and marketing of all sorts of products, from medical equipment to DVDs, is stealing from the workers who design and manufacture the real goods, harming the consumers who purchase the fakes and hindering job growth."
The promotion will be broadcast on television and on buses from November 18.
