CE upbeat on Doha negotiations statement

Chief Executive Donald Tsang hopes the statement on the Doha Development Agenda negotiations to be issued by the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation will contribute to final preparatory work for forging a meaningful outcome to the WTO's 6th Ministerial Conference.

Mr Tsang today held bilateral meetings with officials from Singapore, Vietnam and Australia in Busan, South Korea, ahead of the 13th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting.

He briefed them on Hong Kong's preparations for MC6, and said he looked forward to joining leaders to inject strong political impetus to move forward the Doha Development Agenda negotiations.

"I am pleased that APEC economic leaders will be issuing a statement on the negotiations. I hope this will contribute to the final preparatory work for forging a meaningful outcome of the MC6 meeting," Mr Tsang said.
