This year's WinterFest from November 25 to January 2 is expected to attract more visitors than the 2.5 million at last year's event, bringing Hong Kong's total yearly arrivals to 23 million, the Tourism Board says.
The board's Executive Director Clara Chong said today the event will feature an even larger Santa's Town, more festive programmes and activities, and greater industry participation.
The event will again carry the "Love & Care" theme. Santa's Town in Central will extend beyond Statue Square and into Chater Garden during weekends and public holidays.
Together with other lighting and decorations, Hong Kong's central business district will be transformed into a picturesque European-style Christmas town. To create a unique and memorable family Christmas experience, Santa's Town will feature various themed settings including Santa's Lodge, Santa's Workshop, Buddies Photo Corner, and an exhibition of Madame Tussaud's wax figures.
Visitors can hang wishing cards, and during weekends and public holidays, there will be musical performances and carol singing.
