Bill on listing requirements set for March

The Financial Services & the Treasury Bureau says a Legislative Council bill will be tabled in March to give statutory backing to important listing requirements.

 

Amendments to the Companies Ordinance will be followed up when rewriting the ordinance concerned. It is working on the institutional framework, modus operandi and resource requirements of the exercise

 

The Standing Committee on Company Law Reform today published its 2004-05 annual report. Major issues discussed during the year included:

* the overall review of the Companies Ordinance;

* the statutory derivative action in the Companies (Amendment) Bill 2003;

* the consultation study on the implications of adopting a no-par value share regime in Hong Kong;

* the draft drafting instructions in relation to the committee's proposals in Phase II of the Corporate Governance Review;

* the consultation paper on the proposed amendments to the Securities & Futures Ordinance to give statutory backing to major listing requirements;

* the consultation paper on the proposed amendments to the Securities & Futures (Stock Market Listing) Rules; and,

* the recommendations to give statutory recognition to accounting standards upon the removal of the 10th Schedule of the Companies Ordinance.
