Promoting MC6 through APIs

Entertainers Jessica Hsuan and Kwok Chun-on appear in a new Government Announcement in the Public Interest (API) that promotes the benefits of free trade and the Sixth World Trade Organisation Ministerial Meeting to be held in Hong Kong in December.

With the theme "Free trade: Does it matter?" the API reiterates the fact that Hong Kong has long been the beneficiary of trade liberalisation.

With the artistes shopping for a mobile phone, the API emphasises that with free trade comes consumer choice.

All goods enjoy free entry to Hong Kong, giving consumers a wide choice of products that are cheaper than in other countries, Information Services Department Creative Director Edward Shen said.

"That's a result of free trade, that people here may not be aware of," he said. "It is not easy to explain clearly in a 30-second film, so we decided to adopt a soft approach to remind the public of the advantages of trade liberalisation."

He added that the Government is producing a new API on MC6, which will be broadcast in mid-September.
