Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring-Summer 2006 attracted 19,430 buyers from all over the world.

Organised by the Trade Development Council, the event was held from July 12 to 15 at the Convention & Exhibition Centre. Total buyers rose 28.7% on last year, and there were 8,495 overseas buyers, up 21.5%.

Buyers from US grew 49.8% to 590, while European ones rose 46.7% to 1,159. There were 3,168 Mainland buyers, up 6.9%.

The council said despite the protectionist undercurrent prevailing in the US and European Union markets, the encouraging attendance shows buyers continue to visit Fashion Week for sourcing and collecting the latest market intelligence and product trends.
